A National Study of Marital Status Differences in Early Uptake of COVID-19 Vaccine among Older Americans

We provide one of the first nationally representative studies to examine COVID-19 vaccine uptake differences by marital status within year after was recommended among older Americans. Data were drawn from National Health and Aging Trends Study (2021). The study sample included 3180 participants aged 65 with 1846 women 1334 men. Results logistic regression models suggest that divorced/separated adults less likely receive at least dose in 2021 than their married counterparts, especially individuals higher education. Widowed never respondents generally not significantly different vaccination status, only exception: less-educated never-married more counterparts. Our highlights divorce/separation as a significant social factor associated U.S. These findings are most vulnerable population segment risk low uptake. Future efforts improve equity should target this group specifically, tailored interventions increase access vaccine.
